Yesterday’s La Prensa newspaper announced that there was a 2.3% increase in beer production from 2009 to 2010. The Panamanian brewing industry produced a total of 235 million liters of beer and claimed the amount would have been higher but due to the water shortage in December, production was halted.
In related news, the Cerveceria Nacional has invested in equipment to start producing the Miller Lite brand for the first time in Panama.
La Prensa added that, “Vice President of Corporate Affairs of Cervecería Nacional Juan Antonio Fábrega said that the company has invested $40 million in the last three years in new equipment to improve quality control and distribution. Cervecería Barú Panamá has invested $15 million to double its production, due to the increase in demand.”
