President Ricardo Martinelli is of Italian descent along with numerous other people of Panama. Where there are Italians, there is Italian food. Italian food is all about the ingredients of the season, fresh flavors, perfect pasta, and the ultimate thin crust. Below are a few favorite Italian restaurants in Panama. Andiamo!
1. Bella Roma- This El Congrejo restaurant is truly a gem situated on Calle Alberto Navarro, parallel to Via Argentina. The quiet Italian setting is romantic with an outdoor patio, grape vines, and even waiters wearing bow ties. The food can vary depending on what you order. Some dishes are absolutely fantastic (mushroom gnocchi and the pizzas) while others are just alright. But, the price is right, the setting is quiet, and the owner and chef will absolutely LOVE you if you compliment his food and setting. Tel: 390-7150
2. Napoli in Santa Ana- This Italian restaurant is not in the most desired location in Santa Ana but gives you an old traditional Italian feel with their bow tied waiters and brick oven pizzas. Wine and beers are cheap as well as the superb pizzas! Remember to order your pizzas “muy tostada,” meaning very toasted. Tel: 263-8800
3. Ego y Narciso- This Casco Viejo restaurant is actually 2 in 1. Narciso is the Italian menu and has excellent pastas, salads, antipastos, and brochettes. The restaurant is located on a lovely corner in Plaza Bolivar and has spectacular wine, cocktails, and more! Tel: 262-2045
