Thinking about spending Christmas 2011 in the tropics? Panama is a great place to spend Christmas vacation and has relatively similar Christmas traditions to the United States. One tradition that we love in Panama is that on Christmas Eve Panamanians get together with family and friends to have a big party and fireworks at midnight. Imagine spending Christmas Eve on the Beach with tropical cocktails, a delicious seafood buffet, music playing, and fireworks at midnight.
Expats, especially in Coronado will have their loved ones over to their house for a big meal, cocktails, a little gift giving, and end it at midnight with fireworks over the Playa Coronado Ocean.
In Panama City, there are some restaurants that hold Christmas Dinner and musical concerts. On December 17th the American Society of Panama is holding a Christmas Dinner-Dance at the City Club Panama, 29th floor of City Corp Building, 50th St. from 7-11 p.m. Activities and Dinner will be held along with Christmas Caroling & Dancing.
On Saturday December 19th, there is going to be Christmas arts and crafts for children at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
On Sunday, December 20th there is going to be a charitable Happy Hour for Operation Smile at Pangea Restaurant in El Congrejo that will be a fun time for all.
On Christmas Eve and Day December 24th and 25th, the Hotel El Panama in Panama City will hold a lovely Christmas buffet for all those in the City that might not want to cook or who are just traveling through and want t nice Christmas meal in a beautiful setting.
The Panama City Christmas parade is one of the most noted Panama Christmas traditions which are held on the second week of December. Children from around the city gather together on Balboa Avenue to watch the Christmas floats go by which while women dress in polleras, the Panamanian Woman’s traditional dress and the men’s dress in monunos, the traditional men’s costumes.
So pack up your bags and get excited to enjoy some of the amazing activities going on for Christmas in Panama.
